In a significant anti-narcotics operation, the Surat crime branch arrested two individuals and seized 2 kg of hybrid ganja worth approximately Rs60 lakh from a flat in Pandesara locality.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team raided a residence in a Gujarat Housing Board building on the night of May 9. During the search, the team apprehended Aditya Singh from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh and Piyush Patel from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, both currently residing in Surat.
The seized contraband, known as hybrid ganja, is a cannabis strain combining properties of both indica and sativa plants. The drug, with a street value of Rs60 lakh, was allegedly meant for local distribution.
A case has been registered against both accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigations are underway to identify the source and intended buyers.
