Patparganj police have apprehended two men accused of drugging and robbing passengers on inter-state bus journeys. The suspects allegedly laced food and drinks with sedatives to incapacitate travellers before stealing their belongings.

During the investigation, officers recovered 16 high-end mobile phones, jewellery, multiple debit and credit cards, and around Rs 10 lakh withdrawn using the stolen cards.

The accused have been identified as Adil Ali (25) from Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, and Alok Mishra (23) from Loni, Ghaziabad. The arrests were made following careful technical surveillance and CCTV analysis by the Patparganj Industrial Area police station.

Police said the duo primarily operated at the Anand Vihar and Kaushambi bus terminals, targeting late-night passengers traveling to Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

The breakthrough came when a passenger reported being offered water during a Moradabad-bound journey and later waking up in a hospital to find his belongings missing. CCTV footage from an ATM, where Rs 40,000 was withdrawn using the stolen card, helped police trace the suspects.

“During interrogation, the accused admitted to mixing sedatives into biscuits and water. Once passengers lost consciousness, they stole phones, jewellery, and wallets, and used OTPs to reset UPI and debit card PINs,” said DCP (East) Abhishek Dhania.
