PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — A former teacher at Tradition Preparatory Academy, Addam Timothy LeClair, 43, was arrested for allegedly sending inappropriate messages and gifts to a 16-year-old student over the course of two school years.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office met with the victim and her guardians Tuesday to discuss the troubling interactions that began in March 2025 during the previous school year. LeClair was the student’s first-period math teacher and initially gave her his phone number on a sticky note, suggesting she contact him if she needed someone to talk to.

The victim said she initially didn’t feel uncomfortable because LeClair often communicated personally with students. However, she grew uneasy as he made repeated comments about her appearance, told her she looked pretty, and discussed her looks with her friends. These behaviors increased in frequency and became more inappropriate over time.

LeClair shared personal details about his life, including marital problems, and told the student they had a “good connection,” which made her uncomfortable. In May, his actions escalated to bringing flowers to her school musical, offering Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts gift cards, and slipping $100 into her phone case before prom. When she tried to set boundaries, LeClair reportedly claimed his feelings were hurt, making her feel guilty.

Though the student blocked his number in July, she unblocked it at the start of the new school year to avoid awkwardness. LeClair resumed texting and expressed excitement about seeing her on the first day, questioning her avoidance.

The student reported LeClair to school officials on August 18, leading to his termination later that week. She also showed investigators Instagram messages in which LeClair wrote,

“I’ve never connected with anybody like I connected with you. You understand me like no one else ever has.”

LeClair now faces charges related to his inappropriate conduct.
