Adarsh Jaiswal, a 26-year-old unemployed B.Tech graduate from Atraila, Rewa in Madhya Pradesh, has been arrested by the Varanasi Government Railway Police (GRP) for impersonating a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) and selling fake train tickets to passengers.
According to police, Jaiswal created a fake East Central Railway identity card at a local cyber café in March and used it to convince passengers he was a legitimate railway staff member. He also wore a counterfeit TTE apron and sold forged tickets at multiple stations.
Inspector Rajaul Nagar of Varanasi GRP revealed that Jaiswal’s motive was personal — he loved a woman and wanted to marry her, but his parents refused unless he secured a stable job. To overcome this, he posed as a railway official to appear employed.
Among the complaints against him was one filed by passenger Jyoti Kiran, who was sold a fake “B-3” coach ticket on the Janta Express. Upon reaching the station, she discovered that no such coach existed and reported the fraud. In another case, Jaiswal sold an e-ticket to Mumbai to a man named Dinesh Yadav, who later found discrepancies in the train details and confronted the accused.
GRP and Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials arrested Jaiswal and recovered the fake ID and TTE attire. A case has been registered, and further investigations are ongoing to identify other possible victims of his scam.
