ADAMS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Dennis Wayne Donald, 57, has been charged with two counts of cruelty to animals after authorities say his two “out-of-control” dogs killed his neighbor’s two toy poodles.
The Natchez Democrat reported that Donald was released on a $50,000 bond following his arrest. The incident occurred on Saturday, April 12, on Meadow Ridge Road, where the dogs reportedly attacked the two poodles.
Karren Holland Ewing, victims’ assistance coordinator for the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, said authorities received a report of the attack and she asked Deputy David Nations to accompany her to deliver a summons to Donald’s residence. Upon arrival, Ewing stated that one of Donald’s dogs attacked Deputy Nations, resulting in the deputy being transported to a local hospital for treatment.
When Donald appeared in court, the judge informed him that his two dogs, which had killed the toy poodles, would have to be put down. However, Donald claimed that he had already killed the dogs himself. Later, he admitted to dumping the animals in the Union Church area. Despite his claim, Ewing does not believe the dogs are in Union Church.
