CHICAGO — Adam Beckerink has been charged with the murder of his estranged wife, Caitlin Tracey, nearly a year after her death in a Chicago high-rise.
According to Tracey’s family attorneys, an arrest warrant has been issued for Beckerink. A felony complaint filed by Chicago police in Cook County alleges that Beckerink caused Tracey’s death by throwing her over the railing of the 24th floor east stairwell of his South Loop condo building on October 27, 2024.
The first-degree murder charge comes exactly one year after Tracey’s death and a week after Beckerink was sentenced to 93 days in jail and two years of probation for domestic abuse in separate incidents involving Tracey in New Buffalo. He is currently being held at the Berrien County Jail.
Following her death, Tracey’s parents were awarded custody of her remains after a court dispute. Last week, they filed a petition in Berrien County Probate Court to bar Beckerink from any inheritance rights and to keep the location of her burial private.
NBC Chicago reported that further details on the case, including Beckerink’s next court date, were not immediately available.
