The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has dismantled an organized construction theft ring following a two-month investigation. The operation was led by the Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) in coordination with property crimes detectives.
Investigators identified a group responsible for several thefts involving construction materials throughout the county. The suspects reportedly used two primary vehicles to transport stolen items, assisted by multiple “spotter” vehicles that engaged in reckless driving to avoid detection.
On April 22, 2025, deputies tracked the group to the Mavera neighborhood, where approximately $3,500 worth of Hardi plank siding and trim was stolen.
A coordinated law enforcement response resulted in the arrest of four Houston residents:
Adair Texis, 24
Darry Reyes, 20
Jesus Penaloza, 23
Lazaro Rondon, 42
All four suspects were charged with Burglary of a Building and admitted to additional thefts involving construction materials and appliances. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and that further charges may follow.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office emphasized its commitment to reducing property crimes and urged local builders and suppliers to report suspicious activity promptly.
