Bengaluru – The Rajajinagar Police have arrested actor, director, and producer B Hemant Kumar after a television actress filed a detailed complaint accusing him of sexual harassment, cheating, blackmail, and criminal intimidation.
According to the actress, Hemant approached her in 2022 with an offer to play the lead role in a Kannada film titled “3”. An agreement was signed, promising a payment of Rs2 lakh, of which Rs60,000 was paid upfront.
However, the actress claims the film shoot was repeatedly delayed, and Hemant began pressuring her to wear revealing clothing and act in obscene scenes. When she refused, he allegedly misbehaved and issued threats.
Despite mediation efforts by the Film Chamber, and her completion of the shoot, Hemant reportedly continued his harassment.
In 2023, during a promotional event in Mumbai, Hemant allegedly spiked her drink, filmed her while intoxicated, and later used the footage to blackmail her. When she resisted, he is accused of sending goons to follow her and issuing threats to her and her mother.
Additional allegations include:
Posting uncensored scenes online without Censor Board clearance
Sharing her personal information and defaming her on social media
Violating a civil court’s interim injunction prohibiting such uploads
Despite a Bengaluru City Civil Court order, Hemant allegedly continued posting defamatory videos, leading to his arrest by Rajajinagar Police.
The investigation is ongoing.
