Abu Wadei, Pro-Hamas TikTok Influencer, Arrested in UK

Immigration Enforcement Detains Migrant Over Security Concerns

by Amelia Crawford

A migrant who supports Hamas and gained viral fame on TikTok has been arrested in the UK by Immigration Enforcement on March 9.

The social media influencer, known online as Abu Wadei, has amassed 170,000 TikTok followers and 189,000 YouTube subscribers, where he collects donations via PayPal. His real name is Mossab Al Qassass.

Viral Arrival Sparks Backlash
Wadei made headlines after posting a video of himself arriving in the UK via a migrant boat. In the footage, he wears a keffiyeh and is surrounded by others in orange life jackets as a Border Force vessel approaches.

The influencer has previously shared videos of himself wielding assault rifles and slingshots and has openly declared allegiance to a violent Hamas “tyre burning unit.” In one video, he expressed a desire to “die for the sake of Allah” and made antisemitic remarks calling for the punishment of Jewish people.

Security Concerns & Arrest
The UK-based Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA) identified Wadei and alerted authorities, comparing his arrival footage to past militant videos. Officials warned that his presence could attract other Hamas supporters and pose a serious security threat.

After the Daily Mail pressed the Home Office on whether they were aware of Wadei’s militant history, officials refused to comment. Following public pressure, Immigration Enforcement took action and arrested him.

A Home Office spokesperson reaffirmed the government’s stance, stating:
“The British public can be reassured that we take all steps necessary at all times to protect the nation’s security.”

Calls for Immediate Deportation
The CAA welcomed Wadei’s arrest but demanded swift deportation, criticizing authorities for failing to identify him sooner.

“Clearly, he should not be at liberty in the UK. We are asking the Home Office to confirm this case will be expedited,” a CAA spokesperson said.

As the Border Security Bill strengthens police and immigration powers, officials say they will continue to pursue deportation for individuals who threaten national security.
