Abhishek Yadav Nabbed in Rs4 Cr Truck Scam in UP

Rented trucks sold as scrap; accused used Facebook, brokers

In a major crackdown, Abhishek Yadav, a resident of Niwari, Madhya Pradesh, was arrested on Friday morning for orchestrating a massive fraud involving the illegal sale of rented trucks worth over Rs4 crore. He had been operating across districts in Uttar Pradesh, using a fake rental scheme to exploit unsuspecting truck owners.

According to police, Yadav used Facebook and local brokers to connect with vehicle owners. He offered rental payments higher than market rates and paid upfront advances to gain their trust. After signing rental agreements, he took possession of over a dozen trucks.

Rather than returning the vehicles, Yadav transported them to Nagpur, where he sold each truck for just Rs5 lakh to scrap merchants, profiting from the dismantling and resale of parts. Brokers who helped him procure the trucks were reportedly compensated, making the fraud appear legitimate.

Law enforcement, acting on a tip-off, tracked Yadav’s activities and apprehended him in Robertsganj. He has been booked under charges of cheating and criminal breach of trust, and further investigations are underway to identify his network of collaborators.

Police are also working to trace the scrapped vehicles and alert affected truck owners. Legal proceedings against Yadav have begun.
