The Bagalagunte police in Bengaluru have arrested a 22-year-old man, Abhishek, on charges of murdering his father, Manjunath, at their residence on September 3.
Manjunath, 53, was initially believed to have died by suicide. However, the case took a sharp turn when an autopsy report revealed that the cause of death was strangulation, prompting police to investigate it as a homicide.
According to investigators, Abhishek conspired with his elder brother, Manoj, and a friend, Praveen Reddy, to kill their father. After the murder, they allegedly tried to stage the crime scene to make it appear as a suicide.
Earlier, police had arrested Praveen Reddy for assisting the brothers in executing the plan. The latest arrest of Abhishek has added weight to the case, though the prime accused, Manoj, remains on the run.
Efforts are ongoing to track down Manoj, while Abhishek remains in custody as the investigation continues.
