In a significant breakthrough, the Dhanbad Cyber Cell arrested Abhinandan Kumar from the New Colony area under Barbadda police station limits in connection with a Rs15 lakh online fraud case.

According to Cyber DSP Sanjeev Kumar, an FIR has been lodged against Kumar under Sections 41/24, 318, and 319 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 66(C) and 66(D) of the Information Technology Act. These sections pertain to identity theft, cheating, and unlawful cyber activity.

Investigators revealed that Kumar had opened 14 bank accounts which were used for fraudulent transactions. These accounts were flagged in 29 separate complaints filed on the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP).

At the time of arrest, police seized a Poco mobile phone and two SIM cards, one of which was already linked to a prior case of cyber cheating.

DSP Sanjeev Kumar stated that further investigations are underway, particularly into bank transaction details and the possible involvement of accomplices. Authorities are also exploring whether Kumar was part of a larger cyber fraud network.
