Abdullahi Haladu has been convicted by the Kaduna State High Court for involvement in a land fraud case. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Kaduna Zonal Directorate secured his arrest and conviction.
The case began when Muhammad Sani Isyak filed a petition to the EFCC, alleging that Haladu and an accomplice fraudulently sold him a parcel of land located at Mangoron Agwai, Sabon Gari Malalin Gabas in Kaduna for N1,550,000 in April 2021. After signing a sales agreement and making payment, Isyak realized the deal was fraudulent and reported the matter.
Haladu faced an amended three-count charge, including conspiracy and cheating, violating Section 58(1)(a) and Section 307 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017. He pleaded guilty to the charges.
Justice Darius Khobo sentenced Haladu to five years imprisonment or an alternative fine of N200,000. Additionally, Haladu was ordered to compensate the victim financially.
