Cambridge, UK – Abdul Ali, a 31-year-old man from Huntingdon, has been sentenced to 3 years and 8 months in prison after being caught in a county lines drug operation outside a police station.
The incident took place on February 9, 2023, when officers on patrol in Cambridge spotted a black Citroen DS3, which was suspected to be linked to drug dealing, driving along East Road. After following the vehicle as it turned onto Parkside, officers pulled it over and discovered Ali inside along with a woman.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of £1,500 in cash and several mobile phones. Upon searching the woman, officers found 35 wraps of cocaine and 32 wraps of heroin hidden in her underwear.
Ali, who admitted the drugs were his, was later found to be linked to running the ‘Dan’ drugs line between Cambridge and Huntingdon, as uncovered through numerous text messages.
At Peterborough Crown Court on March 7, Ali pleaded guilty to concerned in the supply of class B drugs, possession with intent to supply cocaine, and possession with intent to supply heroin. He was subsequently sentenced to three years and eight months in prison.
Detective Constable Callum Fullwood, who led the investigation, commented:
“County lines dealers prey on the vulnerabilities of others in order to run their business and make money. We recognise the impact they have on our communities and will continue to put them before the courts to make the county a safer place.”
Ali’s sentencing marks another step in the ongoing effort to disrupt county lines drug operations and safeguard communities in Cambridge and surrounding areas.
