SAN ANTONIO — Authorities have arrested two suspects in separate mail-theft incidents and are urging residents to stay vigilant amid a surge in mailbox-related crimes.
On the city’s far North Side, officers pulled over Aaron Ledger and discovered 239 pieces of stolen mail in his vehicle. Police reported a large bag of mail and tools in plain view, and nearby mailboxes had been damaged. Ledger, who did not answer questions regarding the mail, was taken into custody on unrelated active warrants.
In a separate incident near Patricia Drive, officers apprehended Orlando Castro and another suspect reportedly wearing masks and carrying bags filled with stolen mail at an apartment complex. Authorities said nearly 130 mailboxes were damaged, and dozens of pieces of mail belonging to residents were recovered.
Police are warning residents to monitor their mail and report suspicious activity as investigations continue.
