Maidstone, UK — A man who admitted to dealing drugs to fund his wedding has been sentenced to over five years in prison after police seized a large stash of cocaine, cash, and weapons from his homes and vehicles.
Aaron Carr, 44, was stopped by police on January 21 at around 7:30 p.m. on Tonbridge Road in Maidstone. Officers had recognised his black BMW, which had been linked to the supply of Class A drugs.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 3.5 grams of cocaine, approximately £2,800 in cash, and a mobile phone. Carr was arrested at the scene and quickly admitted to having more drugs at home.
At his residence on Ewell Avenue in West Malling, police found:
Two kilograms of cocaine in a wardrobe
An additional half-kilo of cocaine
Nearly £33,000 in cash
Two more mobile phones and a laptop
A machete hidden in another vehicle
During his arrest, Carr told officers:
“I’ve been stupid. I’ve been doing something silly. I’ve been dealing drugs. I was only doing it to try and save some money for my wedding.”
Carr was charged the same day with:
Possession with intent to supply cocaine
Possession of an offensive weapon
Possession of criminal property
He pleaded guilty and was sentenced on July 2 at Maidstone Crown Court to five years and four months in prison.
🔹 Police Response
Detective Sergeant Jon Saxby commented on the case:
“While Carr maintains the reasons for his actions were honourable, he neglected to consider the detrimental impact of his criminal endeavours on the wider community.”
Saxby added that Carr prioritised a lavish wedding over the well-being of vulnerable drug users, and reminded the public that “crime does not pay”.
All of Carr’s seized drugs and cash have since been destroyed.
