HOPE, N.Y. — A contractor fraud investigation that began in March has resulted in the arrests of a father and son duo accused of scamming a homeowner out of more than $55,000.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, with support from the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Aaron P. Penley, 49, of Gloversville, and Daniel P. Penley, 31, of St. Johnsville, on grand larceny charges.
According to authorities, the Penleys took payment from a homeowner on Hope Falls Road for home improvement work that was never completed.
In addition to grand larceny, Aaron Penley faces an additional conspiracy charge and is currently being held in the Hamilton County Jail on $10,000 bail.
Daniel Penley was located on September 10 at a job site in Schenevus, where he was taken into custody and later released pending a court appearance.
The suspects were allegedly operating under business names A&C Builders and R&D Home Improvements.
