The Aarey police have arrested a 38-year-old man, Ishrat Khan, for allegedly harassing women by flashing, masturbating, and making obscene gestures in the Royal Palms and Aarey Colony areas of Mumbai.

According to police, Khan, an egg supplier by profession, regularly visited hotels and shops in the locality to deliver eggs. During these rounds, he allegedly targeted women, exposing himself and making vulgar gestures.

The complaint was filed by a 29-year-old domestic worker, who stated that she was first harassed on November 24 while on her way to work. Disturbed by the incident, she immediately left the area and informed her employer. The employer told her that Khan had allegedly behaved in a similar manner with her 20-year-old daughter a few days earlier.

Attempts were made to locate the accused, but he could not be traced initially. On December 3, Khan allegedly repeated the act after spotting the complainant again, but fled before help arrived.

On December 11, the complainant saw him once more and immediately alerted her employer. With the assistance of local residents, the accused was caught and handed over to the Aarey police.

“Based on the complaint, a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused has been arrested and will be produced before the court,” said Senior Inspector Ravindra Patil of Aarey Police Station.

Police said further investigation is underway to determine whether the accused targeted other women in the area.
