Bengaluru police’s CID unit arrested 48-year-old A G Ajeeth Kumar on Thursday in connection with the murder of real estate businessman V G Shivaprakash, also known as Bikla Shiva.
The arrest comes after a special court cancelled the interim bail granted to Kumar in November 2025 and directed him to surrender. The Supreme Court recently rejected an anticipatory bail plea by BJP MLA Byrathi Basavaraj, who was also arrested in the same case. Kumar, also known as Malayali Ajeeth, is reportedly a close associate of the MLA.
Shivaprakash was hacked to death outside his residence in east Bengaluru on July 15, 2025, by a gang allegedly connected to Basavaraj and involved in real estate business disputes.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident and the wider network involved in the murder.
