Newton police arrest man accused of vehicle theft

NEWTON, N.C. — Newton police officers arrested a 43-year-old man on Wednesday, December 24, in connection with the alleged theft of a motor vehicle.

Authorities identified the suspect as Eddie Riviera, who is listed as homeless. He has been charged with felony larceny of a motor vehicle, according to police.

Riviera was taken into custody and booked into the Catawba County Detention Facility, where he is being held on a $5,000 bond. Court records show that his District Court appearance is scheduled for December 31 in Newton.
