by Sophia Bennett

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould man was arrested following a shoplifting incident at Walmart that allegedly turned physical, according to police.

Officers were called to the Walmart at 2802 W. Kingshighway on Dec. 11, 2025, regarding a suspected shoplifter who had fled in a vehicle. The suspect, later identified as 37-year-old Joshua Woodson, allegedly pushed a Walmart loss-prevention employee with a closed fist while attempting to leave with unpaid merchandise valued at $19.20.

Walmart provided written statements and surveillance footage that corroborated the employee’s account. Woodson was later arrested on Dec. 15 and transported to the Paragould Police Department, where he made self-incriminating statements during a Mirandized interview.

Woodson faces charges of robbery, a Class B felony, and theft of property, an A misdemeanor. Bail had not been set at the time of reporting. Authorities remind the public that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
