CITY OF LONDON, UK — Two men have been sentenced to prison after being caught on CCTV stealing a bag in a City of London pub.

Hecham Bourhar, 29, and Mohammed Kraifa, 34, both of Wood Street, E17, were each sentenced to 18 weeks in prison for theft. Bourhar received an additional eight-week sentence for breaching his Criminal Behaviour Order, banning him from entering the City of London, which will run concurrently.

The theft occurred on Tuesday, 11 November, at a pub on New Street. CCTV footage shows Kraifa using his foot to drag a bag away from the victim, while Bourhar quickly picked it up before both men walked off. The bag contained a laptop and other personal items valued at £2,000.

Sergeant James Wood of the City of London Police’s Proactive Acquisitive Crime Team said:

“By using all our resources in tracking down bag thieves, we have already made significant arrests which have led to a number of successful prosecutions. This is another great result, with two bag thieves behind bars. Our dedicated officers are working tirelessly to identify and apprehend individuals who target those who live, work and visit the Square Mile.”

In a separate case, two men were arrested on suspicion of bag theft at a pub in Leadenhall Market on 20 November 2025.
