CHICAGO — Five individuals are facing charges after a drone spotted them burglarizing a cargo container at a Norfolk Southern railyard in Chicago, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 5 at the railyard located on the 4000 block of South Ashland Avenue. Cook County sheriff’s police, working with Norfolk Southern Railroad Police to prevent cargo theft, deployed a railroad-operated drone that detected three people removing boxes from the container.
The suspects carried the boxes to a minivan parked near Pershing Road and Wolcott Avenue. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver tried to flee, nearly causing a head-on collision with a squad car. The driver eventually complied, and all five occupants were taken into custody.
Officers recovered a box containing a touchscreen monitor and stand matching the cargo container’s contents, along with additional boxes near Wolcott Avenue.

Marquist Bucker, 29, Chicago – burglary, trespassing
Lamont Davis, 18, South Holland – burglary, trespassing
