Delhi Police on Thursday arrested Sardar Singh and his brother-in-law Rinku for allegedly stealing fuel from pipelines at multiple locations, including the Delhi airport.
According to DCP (Crime) Aditya Gautam, the accused carried out similar thefts across several states, including Delhi, Haryana, Assam, Punjab, and Rajasthan. The Rajasthan Police had registered an FIR against them earlier this year for fuel theft, and both were absconding with a bounty of Rs 25,000 on their heads.
Sardar Singh has a long criminal history with 19 cases registered against him, the earliest dating back to 1992 involving theft at Delhi airport. The duo was hiding in the national capital and was apprehended after police received intelligence about their movement.
Authorities have confirmed that further investigation is underway to trace all locations targeted by the accused and recover stolen fuel.
