BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Buffalo man, 44-year-old Scott Sinwell, has pleaded guilty to setting a fire outside a home in the Seneca Babcock neighborhood, causing roughly $60,000 in damages and temporarily displacing a family.
Prosecutors reported that Sinwell used fuel to ignite the fire on June 2, 2023. He was arrested the next day and has been held without bail since.
In addition to the arson, Sinwell pleaded guilty to burglary charges in a separate case involving the same home’s occupants.
Sinwell also admitted to all counts in a separate indictment connected to the same victim. These charges include one violent felony count of burglary, a felony count of criminal contempt, a felony count of aggravated family offense, as well as misdemeanor counts for criminal contempt, obstruction of governmental administration, and resisting arrest.
When sentenced in February, Sinwell could face up to 40 years in prison.
