EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Four people were charged with theft after Evansville Police discovered over 50 stolen items in the trunk of their car.
Officers pulled over the vehicle for speeding on the Lloyd Expressway near Highway 41 around 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Inside the car were 51-year-old Matthew Jones, 46-year-old Misty Mitchell, 48-year-old Misty Jones, and 41-year-old Kimberly Wisnewski.
During questioning, Misty Jones admitted to having a felony arrest warrant from Vanderburgh County. Police received consent to search the vehicle, which revealed more than 50 store items, some still with tags and security devices, totaling approximately $2,165 in value.
Investigators confirmed the car had been seen leaving Gabe’s after thefts, and the suspects admitted to also targeting Bath and Body Works, J.C. Penney, and Ross.
All four were booked into Vanderburgh County Jail on theft charges. Additionally, Wisnewski was charged with possession of cocaine and fentanyl, which were found in her purse inside the vehicle.
