A former finance director for the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office is facing charges of fraud and grand theft following a state investigation into financial discrepancies discovered earlier this year.
According to sheriff’s deputies, 38-year-old Megan Corbin was arrested Tuesday in Taylor County after an inquiry by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Corbin had been reassigned earlier in the year due to performance concerns, authorities said.
Her successor in the finance department reportedly uncovered inconsistencies and alerted the sheriff. When Corbin was questioned about the discrepancies, she resigned from her position, and the case was referred to state investigators.
Corbin is now charged with eight counts of grand theft and two counts of fraud as the investigation continues.
