FIFE, UK — Two men have been charged following a series of “frost-jacking” car thefts in Fife, where vehicles left unattended with their engines running were stolen.
The thefts occurred over a 50-minute period on Friday outside homes in Glenrothes, Kinghorn, and Kirkcaldy. All three stolen cars have since been recovered.
Charlie Johnson, 29, of Solihull, and Daniel Toms, 34, of Birmingham, appeared privately at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Monday. Both were remanded in custody and charged with housebreaking and vehicle theft. Neither entered a plea, and they are scheduled to appear in court again next week.
The incidents involved residents leaving their cars running to defrost them:
Around 8:00 a.m., an Audi A3 was stolen in Glenrothes and later traced in Kirkcaldy.
At about 8:40 a.m., a black Hyundai i40 was taken in Kinghorn and later recovered.
By 8:50 a.m., a blue BMW X3 was stolen in Kirkcaldy and quickly traced nearby.
Police continue to urge drivers not to leave unattended vehicles running to prevent similar thefts.
