SOUTHEND, UK — A Southend man has been charged with more than 20 offences after being arrested by an off-duty officer.
Carl Weighman, 42, of no fixed address, was arrested on London Road on Monday, 24 November. During the arrest, the officer was reportedly assaulted.
Weighman has since been charged with 21 offences, including:
2 counts of burglary
2 counts of public order offences
2 counts of assaulting an emergency worker
1 count of common assault
2 counts of fraud by false representation
1 count of criminal damage
2 counts of theft
7 counts of theft from a shop
1 count of theft from a motor vehicle
1 count of going equipped
The charges relate to alleged incidents occurring between 5 October and 25 November 2025.
Weighman is due to appear at Southend Magistrates’ Court today, Wednesday, 26 November.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
