Murphy, TX — Jorge Morales, 36, of Sachse, and Albert Silva, 27, of Royse City, were arrested on September 28 after being caught breaking into an elderly woman’s home in Murphy. The two men face charges of burglary of a habitation and unlawful restraint.
The incident began when a vigilant neighbor noticed a suspicious vehicle driving around the neighborhood on Starlite Drive. The neighbor saw the vehicle pull up behind a house and contacted police to report it.
When officers arrived at the scene at around 11:10 a.m., they saw Morales and Silva leaving the home through the garage door, carrying stolen items. They were detained as police began to investigate the break-in.
Inside the home, officers found the elderly homeowner with her hands tied behind her back. She told authorities that the two men had forced their way into her house, tied her up, and ransacked her belongings in search of valuables. Fortunately, the victim was unharmed.
Both men were arrested and are currently being held at the Wylie Jail. Their charges include burglary of a habitation and unlawful restraint.
This case highlights the importance of community vigilance, with the neighbor’s quick thinking and timely tip aiding in the swift arrest of the suspects.
