CONCORD, NC — Three individuals are facing charges following a shooting that injured four people during the city’s annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
The incident occurred just before 7:30 p.m. Friday on Union Street South near the intersection with Corban Avenue. Police said the shooting was not random but involved suspects who were known to each other.
The Concord Police Department identified 18-year-old Nasir Ahmad Bostic of Concord as one of the shooters. He is also one of the four gunshot victims and remains in critical condition at a local hospital. Warrants have been issued against him for assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury with intent to kill, and inciting a riot. Bostic will be served the warrants upon his release from the hospital.
A second suspected shooter, a juvenile, also remains hospitalized in critical condition. Petitions filed through the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice charge the juvenile with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill, two counts of discharging into an occupied property inflicting serious injury, and inciting a riot.
The third suspect, 17-year-old Keyvyonn Rayshaund Bostic of Concord, has been charged as an adult with accessory after the fact and inciting a riot. He was not injured and was apprehended shortly after the shooting.
Two additional 17-year-old gunshot victims were hospitalized; one has since been released, while the other remains in critical condition. Authorities continue to investigate the incident and are urging anyone with information to contact the Concord Police Department.
