Chittoor Police Arrest Five in Gold and Bike Theft Cases

Stolen property worth Rs 25 lakh recovered from suspects

The district crime police in Chittoor have arrested five individuals involved in gold and motorcycle thefts, recovering stolen property worth Rs 25 lakh.

According to ASPs Nagabhushanam and Ravimanoharachari, the operation resulted in the arrest of three women who stole gold ornaments from passengers’ bags and two men responsible for motorcycle thefts. Authorities recovered 230 grams of gold jewellery and four motorcycles from the suspects.

The women — S Jyothi (32), V Nandini (30), and A Priya (26) — are from Lakshmipuram village, Kuppam mandal, Chittoor district, and have prior involvement in theft cases in Visakhapatnam, Malkapuram, Koduru, Alipiri, and Tamil Nadu.

The men — Kondaraju Rathaiah (29) from Prakasam district and Kandan Sai (28) from Tirupati — were previously involved in similar bike thefts across Tirupati, Puttur, Pakala, Karvetinagaram, Kadapa, and Nellore districts.

Following directions from District SP L Subbarayudu and supervision by ASP Nagabhushanam Rao, a special team led by CCS DSP Syam Sundaram tracked and arrested the women near Jayasyam Road and the men near Nehru Municipal High School ground.

The police are continuing their investigation to determine if the suspects are linked to other thefts in the region.
