Jaxon Edwards Arrested After Failed Jefferson Robbery

Suspect Shot, Captured After Attempted Home Robbery

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. — Deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call on Nov. 15 at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Mulga Loop Road regarding an attempted robbery.

Authorities say 22-year-old Jaxon Edwards tried to rob the occupants of a residence. During the incident, a gun was fired, striking Edwards, who then fled into a nearby wooded area.

An initial search did not locate Edwards, but further investigation led deputies to downtown Birmingham, where he was apprehended near Carraway Blvd. and 7th Ave. North around 2:22 p.m.

Edwards was taken to UAB Hospital for treatment of his gunshot wound and will be transferred to the Jefferson County Jail upon release. He faces charges including attempted murder, first-degree robbery, and other outstanding charges, and is currently held without bond.
