A major breakthrough has been achieved in the recent Rs14 lakh ATM robbery in Siliguri. Police say an organized gang from Nuh district, Haryana, executed the heist using a lorry.

Four days after the robbery, a joint operation by the Siliguri Metropolitan Police’s SOG, Bhakti Nagar Police Station, and Ashighar Outpost led to the arrest of Ujer Khan, a resident of Haryana and the lorry driver involved in the crime. He was produced in the Jalpaiguri court on Saturday, and authorities recovered a portion of the stolen cash from his possession.

Police revealed that three gang members transported gas cylinders from Haryana to Siliguri by lorry, while two others arrived by train. In the early hours of Tuesday, the five suspects used a gas cutter to open an ATM in the Ashighar area and escaped with Rs14 lakh.

Investigators, scanning CCTV footage across Siliguri, spotted a suspicious lorry. Using vehicle registration details and confidential intelligence, the SOG tracked and arrested the driver hiding in Bihar.

Authorities have identified all five members of the gang, and more arrests are expected as the investigation continues.
