The Koh-e-Fiza police on Saturday arrested a thief responsible for a Rs 40 lakh burglary, including gold jewellery and Rs 11.5 lakh in cash, from a property broker’s residence near Regalia Heights during the night of October 28–29.
According to DCP Zone-3 Abhinav Chouksey, the accused worked as a maintenance worker in the Regalia Heights building. On the night of the burglary, he climbed onto the terrace of a corner house and crossed through two adjoining rooftops to reach the victim’s home. Once inside, he broke open the locker, stole cash and gold jewellery, and escaped without alerting the on-duty security guard.
The complainant, Kamaluddin (51), a property and gold dealer, was attending his elder son’s wedding at a resort in Bairagarh on October 28 when the incident took place.
Police commended the swift action of the Koh-e-Fiza team for apprehending the thief and recovering part of the stolen property. Further investigations are ongoing to determine whether the accused was involved in similar burglaries in the city.
