NORTH GREENBUSH, N.Y. — North Greenbush police arrested 40-year-old Kleotis King on Tuesday following an investigation into a series of retail thefts in Van Rensselaer Square.
Between June and October, police investigated multiple incidents, totaling over $2,500 in stolen merchandise. Nine cases reportedly involved a suspect with similar descriptions and methods.
On November 4, detectives, in coordination with the Capital Region Crime Analysis Center, identified King as a suspect. Authorities discovered that King had more than 30 active warrants across the Capital Region, most linked to larceny-related offenses.
King was charged with third-degree burglary, nine counts of petit larceny, and sixth-degree conspiracy. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
North Greenbush Police Chief David Keevern highlighted the impact of persistent retail theft on the community and praised officers for their work in apprehending repeat offenders.
King was held without bail at the Rensselaer County Jail as a prior felony offender and is scheduled to return to North Greenbush Town Court later this month.
