The Museum police on Sunday arrested businessman Anil Thampi (48) in connection with a high-profile real estate scam involving prime property in Jawahar Nagar, one of Thiruvananthapuram’s most upscale residential areas.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (Cantonment) Stuart Keeler, a special crime squad in plainclothes apprehended Thampi from Chennai early Sunday morning.
The case revolves around the illegal acquisition and sale of a luxury mansion built on 14 cents of prime land in Jawahar Nagar. Investigators believe Thampi played a key role in orchestrating the fraudulent property transaction.
Authorities are probing further to identify others linked to the land scam and to trace the flow of illicit funds.
