SOUTHPORT, N.Y. – Patrick J. Morgan, 35, was arrested by the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office after an investigation into the theft of over $8,000 worth of power tools from a trailer in Southport.
Deputies responded on October 6 to a report of a break-in on Hopkins Street where an enclosed trailer was broken into, resulting in the theft of approximately $8,800 in power tools, toolboxes, and other equipment.
During the investigation, authorities tracked the stolen items to a property on Holdridge Street and later found many of the tools had been sold in the Village of Horseheads. Law enforcement recovered 24 power tools, four toolboxes, and additional equipment, all returned to the rightful owner.
Morgan faces charges including burglary in the third degree, grand larceny in the third degree, and criminal possession of stolen property. He is currently held in Chemung County Jail on unrelated charges and is scheduled for a court appearance in the Town of Southport.
