Khanna police conducted a major crackdown on drug trafficking, arresting eleven individuals including a police head constable and three employees of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL). Authorities recovered 230 grams of heroin and Rs 65,000 in drug money during the operation.
On May 19, officers from Khanna City Two Police Station were stationed near Sabji Mandi, Amloh Road, to monitor suspicious activity. Acting on a tip-off, they raided a vacant plot in City Home Colony where several youths were reportedly gathered with vehicles including a Splendor motorcycle, Etios car, and Scorpio SUV.
The suspects, identified as Amarjit Singh (Udham Nagar), Angrej Singh (Kartar Singh Nagar), Dubli, Shehzad Mohammad (New Shanti Nagar), and Manjinder Singh (Kotla Dhak) — the latter an assistant lineman — along with Sukhvir Singh (Basant Nagar), were found in possession of heroin and cash. Amarjit Singh had 30 grams of heroin and Rs 20,000 on him, with additional cash found in one vehicle.
Further investigation revealed that Gurmukh Singh, a PSPCL official from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Colony, and Head Constable Arvinder Singh from Ludhiana’s Pakhowal Road, were involved in procuring and distributing the drugs. Gurmukh Singh was arrested with 100 grams of heroin, and later, Raj Mahinder Singh was arrested in Amritsar with 100 grams of heroin and Rs 45,000 based on evidence provided by Gurmukh Singh.
The probe also linked Head Constable Arvinder Singh and Sukhdev Singh, an electricity board watchman from Dehiru, to the drug trafficking network. Arvinder Singh was found to be selling drugs at a mobile repair shop owned by Amritpal Singh in Ludhiana’s Bhola Colony.
Police continue interrogation, with further revelations expected as the investigation unfolds.
