EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) — A Fishers man is facing a long list of felony charges after being arrested Wednesday morning in Evansville.
Police say 37-year-old Jacob A. Robertson was taken into custody and charged with three counts of forgery, four counts of theft, two counts of fraud, one count of auto theft, and one count of fraud on a financial institution.
The investigation began in March after a woman reported several items stolen from her car at a west side Chick-fil-A. According to court documents, her wallet, iPad, Dell laptop, and $150 in cash were taken. Shortly after, her credit union alerted her that her stolen debit card had been used to make a $400 purchase at Walmart. The credit union later suffered a financial loss after reimbursing the stolen funds.
Months later, police investigated another theft involving a woman who had items stolen from her car during a dog show. The stolen property included $1,000 in gift cards, handbags, luggage, shoes, cash totaling $1,400, an Apple laptop, an iPad, and other valuables—bringing the total loss to more than $6,500.
Security footage from both incidents helped investigators identify Robertson as the suspect. Police said a woman, who has not yet been arrested, assisted him during the dog show theft.
At the time the investigation began, Robertson already had four active felony warrants—three in Vanderburgh County and one in Warrick County. He was also listed as a suspect in 11 incidents in the Evansville Police Department’s records since last year.
Authorities added that Robertson has prior convictions for theft, fraud, forgery, and resisting law enforcement. He is currently being held in the Vanderburgh County Jail on a $5,250 bond.
