The Crime Branch has arrested Vishal Patel, a resident of Anand, for allegedly burgling a bungalow in Alkapuri and stealing gold ornaments worth over Rs15 lakhs.
Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted Patel in the Chhani area while he was attempting to sell some of the stolen items. During the arrest, officers seized gold and silver ornaments worth more than RS60 lakhs, including diamond pendants, necklaces, and rings, believed to have been looted from multiple homes across the state.
According to authorities, Patel is a known history-sheeter with a 12-year criminal history involving burglaries, thefts, and vehicle thefts.
“He committed these crimes to support a lavish lifestyle, selling stolen valuables for personal gain,” police officials said.
