Romi Singh Narang 2 Others Held in MP-Based Burglary Case

Burglars posed as repairmen; looted homes across states

by Ananya Mehta

A joint police team from the Special Operation Group (SOG), surveillance cell, and Colonelganj police successfully busted a Madhya Pradesh-based burglary gang on Friday. Acting swiftly, the team arrested three suspects near the IERT trisection road as they were planning to flee the city.

The accused have been identified as:

Romi Singh Narang, 31

Raj Singh, 20

Jaspal Singh, 38

All are residents of Dhar, Madhya Pradesh.

The gang had been targeting homes under the pretext of repairing locks of almirahs and boxes, and then stealing jewellery, cash, and other valuables. The police recovered stolen jewellery worth lakhs, along with mobile phones, cash, and other items from their possession.

The breakthrough came after a complaint was lodged by PN Goswami, a resident of Colonelganj, on July 30. He reported that an unknown man had entered his house claiming to repair an almirah and later escaped with gold and silver ornaments. A case was registered under Section 305(A) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

During interrogation, the accused confessed to operating across multiple states to evade capture and frequently changing locations to stay off the police radar. Their modus operandi was carefully planned, exploiting household trust under the guise of providing lock repair services.

Police have praised the coordination between departments and noted that the arrests may help solve similar unsolved burglary cases across regions.
