The Delhi Police successfully apprehended three robbers after a high-intensity four-day pursuit across Delhi-NCR, recovering a large cache of stolen valuables, including 37.061 kg of silver, 200 grams of pure gold, and cash amounting to Rs 1,86,000, said Deputy Commissioner of Police Nidhin Valsan. The police also seized a motorcycle, a car, and a scooter used in the crime.
During the operation, ASI Parmod sustained injuries while arresting the suspects. The accused have been identified as Pardeep (40) of Burari, Delhi; Kaku alias Jai Malik (32) from Rohini, Delhi; and Vishnu (43) of Kishanganj, Delhi.
Pardeep is a known offender involved in multiple cases, including robbery, attempt to murder, and violations under the Arms Act across different parts of Delhi.
The case originated from a daylight robbery on September 24 near Bhairon Mandir, Pragati Maidan. The victims, a supervisor and his friend from Umrao Singh Jewellers in Bhogal Market, were carrying freshly hallmarked gold and silver items—totaling 870 grams of gold and 40 kilograms of silver—after visits to several jewellers and assaying shops in Chandni Chowk and Bhogal Market.
At around 4:30 PM, the victims were intercepted by two men on a blue motorcycle. The pillion rider threatened one victim with a pistol and snatched the bag containing the jewellery before fleeing.
An FIR was promptly registered at PS Tilak Marg, New Delhi District, under section 309(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation was assigned to the Special Staff, Central District.
Under the leadership of Inspector Rohit Kumar and guided by ACP Operations Sulekha Jagarwar (IPS), the team used extensive human and technical surveillance, reviewing CCTV footage between September 24 and 28.
On September 28, a confidential informer tipped off the police about one suspect attempting to sell stolen jewellery in Karol Bagh. A raid near Chhote Lal Pan Bhandar, Dori Walan, led to the arrest of Vishnu after a brief chase.
Interrogation revealed that Pardeep, Kaku, and Vishnu orchestrated the robbery and were disposing of the stolen goods. The team laid a trap near Khajoori Khas Flyover and intercepted a car carrying Pardeep and Kaku following a high-speed chase during which ASI Parmod was injured.
Despite violent resistance, the accused were apprehended. Searches led to the recovery of 31.589 kg silver and Rs 50,000 from a scooter in GTB Nagar, 992 grams silver from Kaku, Rs 86,000 cash and 880 grams silver from Pardeep, and Rs 50,000 cash, 3.6 kg silver, and 200 grams pure gold from Vishnu. The motorcycle used in the robbery was also recovered from Sahibabad, U.P.
Pardeep further disclosed that two SIM cards and mobile phones were acquired and discarded after the crime to avoid detection.
The investigation is ongoing.
