A Dublin man, Jimmy Cash (36), was remanded in custody following a special sitting at Bray District Court. He faces charges related to a series of burglaries in County Wicklow and a separate home invasion from over a decade ago.
Cash, residing at 7 Daletree Place, Ballycullen, Dublin 24, appeared in court charged with multiple offences tied to burglaries in the Ashford and Clonpadden areas of Wicklow on September 24, 2025, as well as a robbery dating back to 2013.
Detective Tadhg O’Connor of Wicklow Garda Station opposed bail under Section 2 of the Bail Act 1997. Cash is charged with five counts under the Theft and Fraud Offences Act and, if found guilty, could face up to 14 years imprisonment per offence.
The court heard that on March 13, 2013, Cash allegedly broke into a property and stole €7,200 in cash. His identification was confirmed through a blood sample recovered at the scene.
Additionally, it is alleged that on September 24, 2025, at approximately 12:10 p.m., Cash entered a Clonpadden, Arklow property and stole a gun safe containing a shotgun. An independent witness reportedly saw a man carrying a large box to a Ford Fiesta, which then sped away while the witness was on the phone with Gardaí.
Detective O’Connor expressed concerns about Cash’s ties to the UK, doubting he would comply with any bail conditions.
Defence solicitor Sorcha Dianamh Ní Néill Fulham BL highlighted Cash’s strong family connections in the area, including his mother, pregnant partner, and young daughter. She stated that no stolen items were found in Cash’s home and Gardaí had seized his vehicle for forensic examination.
She also revealed that Cash had endured personal hardship following the death of his brother in a road accident at age 16, which led to a past struggle with drug addiction. Since then, he has completed rehabilitation and has maintained sobriety for six years, supported by certification.
Previously employed as a roofer, Cash is willing to surrender his passport and comply with strict bail terms. His solicitor emphasized his presumption of innocence and noted that firearms are difficult to dispose of.
Legal aid was granted to John M Quinn for the case.
Judge David Kennedy remanded Cash in custody citing the missing firearms. Cash is scheduled to appear via video link at Bray District Court on October 2, 2025.
