Ratlam: Two persons, including a domestic worker, were arrested in connection with a high-value theft case in Ratlam. Jewellery and cash totaling over Rs 50 lakh were recovered from them.
On Thursday, Pankaj Motiyani, a resident of Katju Nagar, reported the theft of gold and silver jewellery along with Rs 28,000 cash from his home. The estimated value of the stolen items was around Rs 50.28 lakh. The Industrial Area police station registered a case under relevant sections of BNS and launched an investigation.
A special team led by Inspector Gayatri Soni inspected the crime scene, questioned the complainant and his family members, and collected details about visitors and domestic workers at the residence.
During questioning, Anju alias Anjana Gosar, 30, a domestic help from Subhash Nagar, gave contradictory statements when separately questioned by different teams. Under further interrogation, she admitted her involvement in the theft and was arrested.
Anju disclosed that she handed over the stolen jewellery and cash to Afzal, 51, an auto driver residing in Khatik Mohalla near Haat Ki Chowki. Police tracked Afzal to his home, where he also confessed and was arrested. The stolen jewellery and cash were recovered.
