Two Men Arrested in Caernarvon Township Following Overnight Theft Spree
CAERNARVON TWP., Pa. – Caernarvon Township Police have arrested two Philadelphia men, Matthew Payne and Robert Lucera, in connection with a series of vehicle thefts that occurred overnight in the Pennwood development.
Police received multiple reports of thefts from vehicles on September 25 during the early morning hours. Investigators tracked the suspects to a Sheetz convenience store on Main Street where surveillance on a U-Haul truck led to their arrest around 1:30 p.m. on September 26.
During their detention, officers discovered Payne and Lucera in possession of stolen property from the Pennwood thefts, including identification cards belonging to other potential victims. Police also found that the suspects used a stolen credit card to purchase a big screen TV, socks, and a speaker at a Walmart in Caernarvon Township.
Both men remain held at Berks County Jail with bail set at $75,000 each. They face charges including theft, receiving stolen property, and related offenses.
A search warrant executed on the U-Haul uncovered numerous additional items believed to be stolen during the overnight incidents, as well as a firearm reported stolen from Delaware County.
Authorities are urging local residents to review home security footage for any sightings of the U-Haul overnight and to report any suspicious activity or vehicle break-ins to the Caernarvon Township Police Department. Video evidence can be emailed directly to Detective Sergeant Chad Eberly.
