LUBBOCK, Texas — Evan Aragon, 19, was arrested Sunday after a chaotic series of events involving aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, firearm theft, and evading arrest both in a vehicle and on foot.
According to court documents obtained by EverythingLubbock.com, Lubbock Police responded to a civil disturbance in the 2500 block of Cesar E. Chavez Drive. Upon arrival, officers found Aragon sitting in his vehicle. When asked to exit, Aragon started the car and tried to flee.
One officer attempted to remove him but was dragged partially out of the moving vehicle. Aragon crashed into a truck shortly after and ran from the scene on foot before being tased and apprehended by police.
A search of Aragon’s vehicle uncovered two stolen firearms: a handgun with an extended magazine and a rifle. Victims at the scene told police that Aragon had pointed the handgun at them, which initiated the 911 call.
He was booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center on Monday. His bonds total over $53,000, and he remains in custody as of this writing.
