Kodagu District: Police arrested three women — Alpana (37), Babita (47), and Pooja (29) — all from Maharashtra, on charges of stealing gold chains from a jewellery shop in Suntikoppa town.

On September 14, the women entered the shop under the pretense of buying gold jewellery but allegedly stole two gold chains weighing 22 grams. Following the theft, a case was registered at the Suntikoppa police station.

A special team led by Somwarpet DSP P Chandrashekhar launched an operation, which successfully apprehended the accused and recovered the stolen chains.

Police added that the women had come to Kodagu district to sell ropes but allegedly committed the crime during their visit.
