HARTFORD, Conn. — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers have arrested 43-year-old Mauricio Castiano-Rojas, an illegal alien from Mexico, who is facing multiple criminal charges in Connecticut.
Officers with ICE Boston’s Hartford field office apprehended Castiano-Rojas on September 10 in Hartford. He is currently in ICE custody, pending the outcome of removal proceedings.
According to officials, Castiano-Rojas was previously deported after being arrested by U.S. Border Patrol on September 15, 2007, for illegally entering the United States. He later illegally reentered the country at an unknown location and date, without inspection or authorization.
The Hartford Police Department arrested him on August 13, 2025, charging him with:
Illegal sale of alcohol (club/organization)
Promoting prostitution (2nd degree)
Possession of a controlled substance (1st offense)
Operation of a drug factory
Possession with intent to distribute a narcotic
Permitting prostitution
These charges remain pending.
Despite ICE lodging a detainer with the Connecticut Department of Corrections on August 17, authorities released Castiano-Rojas without notifying ICE.
ICE officers later tracked him down and took him into custody on September 10.
