Delhi Police arrested three men, including a quack and two ward boys, for the murder of a 68-year-old businessman, Ranbir Singh, during a robbery in the Sarai Rohilla area of north Delhi. The accused—Mohammad Pravez Alam (27), who runs a clinic in Muzaffarnagar, and ward boys Mohammad Nasir (30) and Nikhil Kumar (19)—were caught following an intensive investigation.
On February 1, police responded to a PCR call at Singh’s office located in the Vivekanandpuri shopping complex, where they discovered the businessman’s body. Singh’s son raised suspicions when an ultrasound machine was found missing from the premises.
DCP (North) Raja Banthia revealed that police reviewed over 300 CCTV footage clips to identify suspects seen near the crime scene. This led them to the trio, who were found traveling by car shortly before the murder. A raid in Bhagra, Muzaffarnagar resulted in their arrests and the recovery of stolen items, including the ultrasound machine and a laptop.
Investigations showed that Alam, the mastermind, had previously attempted to buy an ultrasound machine but failed. Planning to obtain it through theft, Alam enlisted his two accomplices. On the day of the crime, the men confronted Singh, overpowered him, and used a syringe injection to incapacitate him before strangling him to death.
The police have seized the suspects’ car and recovered all stolen goods as the probe continues.
